We will deliver the solid foundation that will ensure that your project performs well for years to come.
Our professionals know the importance of preparing the site properly, using the right amount of thickness, and reinforcing the concrete as necessary to meet the needs of your project. From small shed foundations to large garage floors, our staff has poured many concrete slabs throughout the Greater Boston area. With a precise and professional approach to each concrete slab project, we will help ensure that your project goes smoothly and on time.

A concrete slab is a flat horizontal area of poured concrete. The function of a concrete slab is to provide a solid base for a building, be it an indoor living space or an outdoor space, such as a patio, and serve as a very hard-wearing and long-lasting floor surface. One of the primary functions of a concrete slab is to distribute all of the weight from the structure and everything in/on it down into the earth in a way that will prevent the slab from settling. Thusly, when properly constructed, it provides a very stable base upon which to build.
The amount of thickness and/or reinforcement needed in a concrete slab will depend on the intended usage of the slab. For example, a small, simple garden shed does not require a lot of structural integrity (i.e., thickness/reinforcement) compared to a garage slab, which is subject to being used by automobiles. Each slab we construct is specifically designed to meet your individual needs, soil conditions, and load requirements.
We offer various concrete slab design options to match your project requirements:
Flat Standard Slab Design
A flat standard slab is one of the most common types of slab and provides an even surface with adequate thickness and steel reinforcement based on your desired application.
Slab With Thickened Edge Design
An edge-thickened slab has reinforced edges in addition to steel reinforcement or wire mesh to add extra strength to your slab, providing increased structural support to the area where you need it most.
Concrete Reinforcement (Reinforced Concrete) Design
In areas where a lot of weight will be bearing down on the slab or the slab will be crossing over poor soils, a concrete reinforcement slab is required to support the load and prevent damage to the slab.
Concrete Finishing Options
You may choose from several options when it comes to finishing your slab’s surface. These options include a smooth troweled finish, a broomed texture to increase traction and reduce slipping, and decorative options such as stamping or coloring the concrete.

We follow a systematic approach to ensure your concrete slab performs well:
1) Site Evaluation
We evaluate your site’s soil type, drainage characteristics, and elevation (grade). The findings of this assessment determine the necessary base preparation and/or reinforcing steel required by your slab.
2) Excavation and Grading
We excavate your site to the appropriate depth to create a suitable base for your slab, and we also properly grade the top surface to prevent standing water from accumulating either on or under your slab.
3) Base Preparation
The use of compacted gravel to provide both structural support and drainage is critical to providing a stable base for your slab. In cases where there is an excessive amount of moisture present in the soil at the slab site, we can install a vapor barrier to prevent moisture migration through the slab.
4) Form Setting
We set our forms to accurately reflect the size of your slab, including the overall thickness, and to ensure that the entire area receives the same amount of concrete during the pour.
5) Reinforcement Placement
Adding steel reinforcement or installing wire mesh within your slab helps to increase its overall strength while helping to control the extent of any potential cracking. We place all reinforcement in accordance with the relevant engineering specifications.
6) Concrete Pouring and Finishing
We pour high-quality concrete and complete it to your specifications. Our team operates with a great deal of efficiency to complete the placement, consolidation, and finishing of the concrete prior to it beginning to set.
7) Curing
In order to develop the desired level of strength in your concrete, it must be cured properly. We protect freshly poured concrete and allow sufficient time for it to reach the design strength before placing any loads upon it.

Concrete Slab Perimeter to House Foundation
A concrete slab surrounding a house can provide a clean, low-maintenance perimeter to create an area for seating or other activities outside of the house. In addition to the aesthetic value of a clean perimeter, the slab will eliminate mud in areas where water collects and improve drainage by moving water further away from the house foundation.
Concrete Slab Installation for Garden Shed
Provide a place for your gardening tools and equipment to be stored. A concrete slab for the installation of a garden shed provides a level, dry base, which reduces the likelihood of settling under the weight of the shed and protects the shed from moisture damage.
Concrete Slab Installation for Areas Around Your Pool
Increase the quality of your pool area with a long-lasting concrete slab. A concrete slab installed in the areas around pools is capable of providing a space for lounging, withstands constant moisture exposure, and is able to provide a slip-resistant finish if completed properly.
Concrete Slab Installation for a Shed
Regardless of whether it is used for storage or as a workspace, a concrete slab for a shed project will give you a solid, flat base to work from that will last for many years.
Local Experience
We understand the unique characteristics of Boston’s soil and weather patterns and have taken those into consideration when designing our concrete slabs to be able to withstand New England’s freeze-thaw cycles and other environmental factors.
